CARL R. DARNALL ARMY MEDICAL CENTER REPLACEMENT AT FORT HOOD, TEXAS

Project Overview

The project involves design and construction of a 947,000-square-foot hospital replacement on the athletic field site adjacent to the existing Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center campus. The new facility will replace the existing medical center and provide a new state-of-the-art healthcare facility for our Service Members and their Families. Primary facilities will include the complete hospital replacement, including all inpatient services, the ambulatory and outpatient clinics, ancillary services, emergency department, ambulance garage, building information systems and special foundations. Supporting facilities include central utility plant, site work, parking and relocation of existing athletic fields. Comprehensive building and furnishings related interior design services are required.

The facility will showcase numerous innovative sustainable features and will be designed and constructed to achieve LEED Gold certification. The facility will be designed in accordance with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 4-510-01, DoD Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings, UFC 4-010-01, American with Disabilities Act and Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADA/ABAAG), and applicable energy conservation legislation.


Construction is scheduled to start in April 2011 completing in May 2014.
